Hoya cinnamomifolia var. purpureofusca (Hoya purpureofusca)

Tropical climbing species.

Twisting, climbing stems with thick, leathery leaves, dark green with brown edges and prominent veins. Flowers 1.4 cm in diameter, dark red with a yellow center and reflexed lobes. The flowers are gathered in dense, pendulous umbels and have a honey-like scent.

Native to Indonesian tropical forests.

This plant can grow quite large and therefore requires space and support for climbing. It prefers a very well-drained soil and a shady location. Water regularly during the growing season (approximately March to October) but only once or twice a month during the rest of the year. Requires medium-high temperatures in winter.

Not hardy.
