Epiphytic semi-drooping cactus. Long and thin stems, branched, densely covered with small succulent cylindrical leaves, slightly hairy. This particular appearance is reminiscent of a mesembryanthemum. Small flowers, in the apical part of the stems, white, with a diameter of 1.5 cm. Small white spherical berries follow. Native species of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, but has a very limited range and is today known only in the public parks of the large urban area of Rio de Janeiro. In fact, it grows as an epiphyte on the trunks of trees in the public parks of the metropolis. The original habitat was presumably the lowland forest. It requires well-drained soil and a shaded position. Water once or twice a week in summer but only once or twice a month in winter. Not hardy.
