Evergreen geophyte species. Sub-spherical bulbs, exposed, covered by a thin papyrus film. Spatulate leaves up to 30 cm long by 5-10 cm wide, pubescent. Flower scape slightly longer than the leaves with an umbrella of numerous white flowers with yellow stamens at the apex. Native species of eastern South Africa where it grows in savannah areas on rocky ledges under trees. Very rare in nature. Requires a shaded or semi-shaded position and well-drained soil. Regular watering in summer, allowing the soil to dry between waterings; keep dry in winter. Not hardy. 1 bulb or potted plant.
