Begonia mazae f. nigricans

Species with a thin and streaky aerial rhizome.

Sub-rounded leaves, 5 x 8 cm, with cordate base and acute apex, green-brown streaked with dark brown. The color of the leaves intensifies in a very shady position. Small, pink flowers, in dense branched inflorescences above the leaves. Compact habit, often hanging.

Native species of south-western Mexico where it grows in forests in very shady positions.

It requires drained soil and a very shady position. Regular watering in summer, reduced watering in winter.

Not hardy.
