A tufted succulent species. Leaves arranged in rosettes, light green, often reddish, leathery, lanceolate, covered with fine tubercles, making the surface rough to the touch. White flowers grow in long, unbranched inflorescences. This species is native to South Africa, particularly the Western Cape region. It typically grows in semi-arid environments, often shaded by rocks or vegetation. This preference for shade protects it from the intense sunlight of its natural habitat. It also grows in rocky areas and on steep slopes. It therefore requires very well-drained soil and a shady or partial-shade location. Water every 7-15 days from March to October, while in winter, once a month is sufficient. A half-hardy species, it can tolerate a few brief frosts if kept dry. Potted or bare-root plant.
