Semi-deciduous perennial herb in winter. Spatulate or lanceolate leaves arranged in a basal rosette, deciduous at anthesis. Leafy and branched stems up to 60 cm tall bearing numerous daisy-shaped flower heads, which open in succession, with a diameter of 5-8 cm. The flowers are made up of a yellow central disk and numerous deep yellow toothed radial ligules. The most spectacular flowering occurs between May and June but it often blooms again between the end of summer and autumn. Native species of the North American prairies. Requires deep soil rich in humus and a sunny or semi-shaded position. Very abundant watering during the summer (the soil must always remain moist). Completely hardy. Potted plant.
