Begonia carolinaefolia

Rhizomatous species with semi-ascending aerial rhizome. Palmate-partite leaves supported by a long peduncle originating directly from the rhyozome. Pink flowers in dense apical inflorescences. Native species of southern Mexico and Central America where it grows on rocky slopes in humid forests between 50 and 500 m above sea level. It prefers well-drained soil and a shaded position. Regular watering in summer but reduced in winter. Not hardy. Rooted little plant in 7 cm pot.
