Creeping marshy species. Creeping stems, rooting at the nodes. Small, sub-rounded, opposite, glossy green leaves. Solitary, axillary, golden yellow flowers, 2-3 cm in diameter, produced in abundance at the apex of the stems in spring-summer. Native to temperate and cold-temperate zones of Europe, northern Asia and north-western Turkey. In nature, it grows in marshy or humid areas for most of the year. It therefore prefers a constantly moist soil and a semi-shaded position. Therefore suitable to be used for the edges of lakes and ponds and in wet meadows. Completely hardy. Plant in a 10 cm pot.
