Eucomis comosa

Bulbous species winmter dormant. Leaves sub-erect, obovate-lanceolate, wavy at the margin and speckled with purple at the base. Floral scape up to 1 m long, made up of numerous star-shaped flowers of a green-whitish color with a purplish ovary, scented, surmounted by a group of characteristic green bracts (pineapple tuft). Flowering occurs in summer. South African species (Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal), where it grows in hilly meadows and wet meadows, between 200 and 600 m. 1 bulb.
