Sansevieria grandis

Succulent species with robust underground rhizomes. Leaves up to 60 cm long by 15 cm broad, coriaceous, broadly lanceolate, glaucous green in color with light green transversal bands. Spiciform inflorescence up to 60 cm long carrying numerous white tubular flowers. The origin is unknown as it appeared in cultivation by a Cuban company that wanted to exploit its qualities as a textile fiber. However, it is thought to come from South Africa. Requires well-drained soil and a shady location. Water every 10-15 days in summer but leave the soil dry in winter. Not hardy. Bare root plant.
