Rhizomatous succulent species. Sub-cylindrical, distichous, arched, grooved leaves, up to 90 cm long and 2.5 cm in diameter. The leaves are light green, crossed longitudinally by long, slightly sunken lines. The leaves tend to arrange themselves to form a sort of fan. Spiciform inflorescence up to 70 cm long consisting of numerous white flowers that open in the evening. The species was described for the first time from a specimen in cultivation that seems to have come from Kenya. It requires well-drained soil and a shaded position. Water every 10-20 days from March to October but leave dry in winter or at most water once a month if necessary. Not hardy. Plant in a long pot or bare root.
