Kohleria amabilis var. bogotensis (Kohleria bogotensis)

Rhizomatous species semi-deciduous in winter. Stems 30-40 cm long, erect or drooping and creeping, pubescent. Leaves ovate, pubescent, toothed on the margin, green with red margin and underside. Flowers pendulous, tubular with yellow corolla tube and red lobes variegated with yellow, in dense apical inflorescences. It flowers in spring-summer. Species native to Colombia. In nature, it grows in mountain forests. Requires well-drained soil and a shady location. Regular watering in summer but less watering in winter. Not hardy. Plant in a 16 cm pot or 5 rhizomes.
