Vriesea carinata

Evergreen epiphytic species. Lanceolate leaves of uniform green colour, 20-40 cm long, with smooth upper surface and smooth margins. Floral scape approximately 30 cm long which widens at the apex into a fan-shaped inflorescence made up of numerous bracts overlapping each other, yellow-orange in color in this form. Endemic species of the Brazilian Atlantic forest and generally grows on trees. It requires a substrate consisting mostly of inert material such as bark or pumice or lapillus with a small quantity of soil. Shaded position and regular watering. Not hardy.
