Epiphytic species.

This unique bromeliad originates from the forests of the state of Espirito Santo in Brazil. In the wild, it grows attached to trees thanks to its robust, fibrous roots.

It has light green leaves up to 15 cm long, streaked with red. The leaves, gathered in a rosette, form a sort of ampoule in which water accumulates. The flowers, with three tepals, are purple and remain low inside the ampoule.

Being an epiphytic species, it can be grown either on a raft or other support or in a pot. If grown in a pot, use a primarily mineral substrate with at least 70-80% inert material. Place the plant in a shady location and water regularly during the summer but much less in winter.

Not hardy.

Bare-root plant.
