Succulent herbaceous species with creeping and compact habit. Succulent stems, creeping or drooping, covered with keeled succulent leaves and dark green couplets, purple on the lower side. In the stretches of branches with short internodes, the closely spaced leaves take on the shape of boats (hence the name of the species). Dark pink flowers in compact inflorescences at the apex of the stems. Native species of eastern and north-eastern Mexico where it grows in arid areas in rock crevices or between stones. It requires well-drained soil and a position in full sun or partial shade. Water in summer every 10-15 days but leave dry in winter. Not hardy. Bare root or potted plant.
