Epiphytic cactus with pendulous stems. Stems up to 50 cm long and 4-6 cm in diameter, cerulean-green in color, deeply lobed with semicircular lobes. Apical flowers, up to 30 cm long and 10-20 cm in diameter, are white with salmon-yellow outer sepals, and very fragrant. The flowers open in the evening and remain open for almost three days. Native to the state of Oaxaca (Mesico). In nature, it grows in tropical forests and mountain cloud forests between 1,300 m and 2,500 m above sea level, both on trees and rocks. It prefers a position in partial shade but can tolerate full sun if it is not too hot. Use well-drained soil that also contains a good amount of organic matter. Water abundantly (without letting the substrate dry out completely) from March to August; from the end of August to January, water once a week, then stop completely until March. This will stimulate flowering. Not hardy. Cutting, pot plant, or bare-root plant.
