Egyptian papyrus grows wild in the wetlands of Africa and northern Israel. Rhizomatous species, it has a creeping rhizome that tends to branch out. Triangular section stems from 2 to 5 m long originate from the rhizome. At the apex of the stems there is a tuft of filiform bracts arranged in an umbrella. The plant needs water all year round to develop well, but it doesn't tolerate frost. It can bear some sporadic frosts, losing the aerial part which it will regrow in spring. Sunny or semi-shaded position. Vase 16cms.
