Creeping succulent species. Trailing stems with scaly tubercles that give them the appearance of a small snake. Some stems develop below ground level. Utriculate and elongated flowers, about 15 mm long, open only at the apex, dark red with faint whitish spots. Native species of Yemen where it grows in arid and stony areas between 700 and 2000 m above sea level. It requires very well-drained soil and a position in partial shade or light shade. Water every 7-20 days between March and October but leave dry in winter. Prefer a low bowl to allow the stems to develop at their best. Not hardy. Cutting, rooted cutting or potted plant.
