Creeping succulent species.
Creeping and branching stems, partially underground, with flattened, reddish tubercles resembling snakeskin. Semi-apical flowers, red, small, and urceolate, with a small opening at the apex. Flowers appear in summer and autumn.
A species native to Tanzania, where it grows under shrubs, including thorny ones, for protection from herbivores.
Requires well-drained soil and a location in partial shade. Water once every 7-10 days from March to October, never in winter.
Not hardy.
