Creeping succulent species.
Creeping and branching stems, partially underground, with flattened, reddish tubercles resembling snakeskin. The flowers should be semi-apical, red, small and urceolate, with a small opening at the apex, but this form has never produced any.
A species native to Tanzania, where it grows under shrubs, including thorny ones, for protection from herbivores.
Requires well-drained soil and a location in partial shade. Water once every 7-10 days from March to October, never in winter.
Not hardy.
Rooted cutting with a single or slightly branched stem.
