A clumping succulent.

Stems up to 20 cm long, glaucous green in color, strongly tuberculated with long, pointed tubercles. Five-lobed flowers, 2 cm in diameter, red in color, solitary or in more or less numerous clusters.

The species is widespread in Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen and grows on granite rocks.

It requires a very well-drained soil and a location in partial shade or filtered light. Water once every 7-20 days during the growing season (approximately March to October), but leave dry the rest of the year.

Not hardy.

Bare-root plant with one or more stems.
