Huernia keniensis var. nairobensis

A succulent species with clumping, prostrate stems.

Stems up to 18 cm long, reddish-green in color, with distinct, pointed tubercles. The flowers appear at the base of the young stems: they are bell-shaped, dark reddish-purple in color, with three prominent veins on the outer surface of the lobes and a faint, carrion-like odor.

A species native to Kenya and Tanzania. In the wild, it generally grows in rocky or stony areas under shrubs or trees in light shade.

Very well-drained soil and a location in partial shade or filtered light. Water every 7-20 days during the growing season (approximately March to October), but leave dry in winter.

Not hardy.
