Huernia procumbens

A prostrate, clumping succulent.

Stems 10-15 cm long, creeping, slightly tuberculated, and grayish-green. Single or paired flowers appear at the base of young stems, 2.5-5.5 cm in diameter, with a red annulus and white, triangular lobes, often reflexed.

A native species of Zimbabwe and South Africa (Northern Province). In the wild, it grows in dry, rocky forests, often clinging to rocks.

It requires very well-drained soil and a location in partial shade or filtered light. Water every 7-20 days during the growing season (approximately March to October), allowing the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings. Leave dry in winter.

Not hardy: it can tolerate a minimum temperature of 5°C (41°F) with dry soil.
