Clumping species forming compact tufts. Stems up to 10 cm long with sub-cylindrical emerald green leaves with a "slit" surface. Showy apical inflorescences bearing numerous bright yellow star-shaped flowers appear in winter-spring. Slow growing. Species native to the state of Puebla in Mexico and usually grows in rock crevices. It requires well-drained soil and a sunny or partially shaded position. Water every 10 days in summer and leave dry in winter. Not hardy. Little bare root plant.
