Summer-growing tuberous species. Common species in much of Southeast Asia where it grows in forests. The dark green stalked leaves with a reddish rachis, grow up to 35 cm long and about 20 cm wide. Each tuber has 3-4 leaves and is mature with only a few centimeters in diameter. The inflorescence, consisting of a light green, lanceolate spathe and a white spadix, forms together with the leaves during the vegetation phase. The plant vegetates during the summer and goes into vegetative rest in winter, losing the aerial part. In winter it should be kept completely dry and protected from frost, while in summer it requires abundant and regular watering. Well-drained soil and shaded position. Not hardy.
