Semi-pendulous epiphytic cactus. This species features very distinctive stems composed of multiple segments stacked on top of each other, reminiscent of bamboo. The stems are also heavily branched, initially erect, then pendulous, and dark green in color. Small yellow flowers appear in late winter at the tips of the stems. This species is native to southeastern Brazil, where it grows on rainforest trees from sea level to 1,850 meters above sea level. It requires a well-drained substrate containing peat or sphagnum moss and a location in shade or partial shade (it cannot tolerate full sun). Water abundantly during the growing season; after flowering, the plant requires a rest period, so watering should be reduced for a couple of months. Not hardy. Cutting, bare-root plant, or potted plant.
