Shrub succulent species. Thin stems, very branched, with linear, fleshy, opposite leaves. Spiciform inflorescences, erect or slightly arched, bearing numerous orange star-shaped flowers with a tuft of showy yellow hairy stamens in the centre. The flowers open in succession from bottom to top. Flowering begins in spring and can last throughout the summer and most of autumn with some short breaks. Native species of South Africa (Cape Province) where it grows on rocks, cliffs and rocky terrain. Half-hardy. Potted plant 14 cm.
