Geophytic species with a sub-spherical bulb with a diameter of 2.5-3.5 cm. Ribbon-like leaves of 30-40 cm x 0,6-0,8 cm, green with paler central stripe. Floral stem up to 50 cm long bearing 4-6 dark pink flowers 4-5 cm long. The tepals are wavy and strongly reflexed so as to deserve the name of "Spider Flower". Flowering occurs in summer and autumn after a dry period. Hardy species, it can bear temperatures down to -15°C. Plants bloom best in narrow pots. Native to China, Korea and Nepal, later introduced to Japan. In the wild it grows in forests, along the banks of waterways and along roadsides. 1 bulb.
