Crinum x amabile

Horticultural hybrid between Crinum asiaticum and Crinum zeylanicum. Sub-spherical bulb with a diameter of 10 cm. A long "neck" develops from the bulb, consisting of the base of the leaves that wrap around each other. At the apex of the neck the linear, thin, up to 2 m long by 60 cm broad, evergreen leaves depart. Sturdy floral scape, up to 90 cm long, bearing numerous pink flowers at the apex with long, thin, often drooping, perfumed petals. Not hardy. It needs loose and moist soil and a sunny or semi-shaded position. Abundant watering in summer but less watering in winter. Bare root plant with 3-4 cm diameter bulb.
