Allium lusitanicum Cengio Alto (Allium senescens)

Semi-evergreen bulbous species. Leaves 20-30 long and 1 cm wide, glaucous green in colour, tending to develop horizontally and often spiral slightly. Floral scapes 20-30 cm long carrying several small pink flowers arranged in a sphere. Flowering occurs between the end of summer and autumn. Species coming from Cengio Alto in Trentino. Plants grew on the treeless summit in the crevices of limestone rocks. It therefore requires very well-drained soil and is particularly suitable for rock gardens and gravelly or stony areas. Position in full sun. Drought resistant. Hardy. Plant in 10 cm pot.
