Horticultural hybrid between Cyrtanthus montanus and C. elatus.
This hybrid has characteristics that are much more similar to C. elatus than to C. montanus. It has bulbs with a diameter of 3-4 cm, very clumping, from which two dark green and evergreen ribbon-like leaves emerge. In summer, flower stalks appear, 30-40 cm long, bearing two to five bell-shaped, slightly pendulous flowers of an intense red-orange color. Flowering lasts about two weeks.
It prefers slightly drained soil and a position in full sun or partial shade. Water regularly during the summer.
Hardy to at least -8 degrees Celsius (the leaves may freeze but will re-emerge in spring).
Bulb with a diameter of 1-3 cm.
