Tuberous species with winter vegetation.

Upright tuber where the shoot develops from the base. Astate leaves of 20-30 x 15-20 cm, dark green. Erect light purple spathe with sapdix slightly longer than half of the spathe, pink-purple in colour.

Endemic species of the island of Crete where it grows in arid and stony areas.

Requires well-drained soil and full sun or partial shade. Regular watering in winter but dry in summer when the tuber is dormant.

Hardy.

Plant in a pot 14 or 16 cm in diameter.
