Epiphytic cactus with pendulous stems.
Stems up to 50 cm long and 6-10 cm in diameter, light green, crenate at the margin. The apical flowers, up to 30 cm long and 10-20 cm in diameter, are white with yellow outer sepals and very fragrant. The flowers open in the evening and close at sunrise.
A native species of Central America and Mexico, it grows naturally in tropical forests and mountain cloud forests between 1,300 m and 2,500 m above sea level, both on trees and rocks.
It prefers a semi-shaded position but can tolerate full sun if it's not too hot. Use well-drained soil that also contains a good amount of organic matter. Water abundantly (without letting the substrate dry out completely) from March to August; from the end of August to January, water once a week, then stop completely until March. This will stimulate flowering.
Not hardy.
Bare-root plant.
