Perennial herbaceous species, deciduous in winter. Leaves ternate, lobed, toothed and covered with a soft pubescence. Ramified inflorescences 60-90 cm tall. Numerous flowers, 5-7.5 cm in diameter, white with a central crown of yellow stamens. Native species of China, Taiwan and Vietnam where it grows in meadows and woods, on moist soil. It prefers a shady or semi-shaded location and a humus-rich and moist soil especially in summer. Abundant watering in the summer period. It can also grow well on the edges of lakes or ponds. Hardy.
