Kohleria hirsuta var. longipes

A rhizomatous species, generally deciduous in winter.

Its stems are pubescent, up to 50 cm long. Its leaves are pubescent, ovate, with a serrated edge, and light green in color. Its flowers are axillary, tubular, orange, and white-throated in summer.

Native to the tropical forests of northern South America.

It requires a shady location and well-drained soil. Water abundantly in summer, but less frequently in winter. In late autumn or early winter, the plant may lose its aerial parts and go dormant. During this period, water only a couple of times a month.

Not hardy.

Plant in a 14 cm diameter pot.
