Small bulbous species. Ribbon-like leaves, thin, up to 50 cm long. Flowers similar to a small iris, blue-violet with a white-yellow spot on the outer tepals. The flowers open at the apex of a thin 10 cm long flower stem. Flowering occurs between February and March. Native to the Mediterranean region, it grows in stony and dry places or on soil with little vegetation. Sunny position and well drained soil. Excellent species for the rock garden. Hardy. 1 pot.
