Sarmentose succulent species up to 7 m tall. Long, slender stems with numerous short but robust and prickly thorns. Slightly fleshy obovate leaves, glossy green, deciduous in winter. Small orange-pink flowers. Native species of Peru, it grows in semi-arid zones in summer rains; forms dense bushes or leans against trees. Half-hardy. Bare root plant.
