Terrestrial species with underground rhizomes from which long lanceolate leaves, parallelinerve, light green with white margins originate. Inflorescences up to 40 cm long carrying numerous pale pink flowers with a diameter of about 3 cm. Flowering occurs in May-June. Native species of central China and southern Japan where it grows in temperate areas between 900 and 1100 m of altitude in grassy areas and at the edges of the forests. It therefore likes a semi-shaded position and a soil rich in humus. In winter it goes into vegetative rest losing all the leaves, while in the vegetative season it needs regulated watering. Hardyi.
